View of the Bay from Pac Heights on the Ride Home

nice view of the bay as the sun was setting on the ride home. I had taken a different route home than I normally do and wound up skirting some steep hills.

Nice Job PG&E

It’s one thing to have a blown transformer or rolling blackout, it’s quite another to have one on national TV and one that could be seen as a final push the Niners needed to get their move to Santa Clara underway. Or maybe five years from now it’ll be thought of that way.

And seriously- 1 customer? That’s a bit flippant:

At least they updated later:

Thanks for taking that survey

I just wanted to give a quick thanks for those of you who took my survey this week. Yes, I know it was quick and and poorly written (with no skip-logic, etc). But thanks for results.
As you could probably tell I’m debating switching health care providers due to the new gig.

I’ve had Kaiser for the last two (three?) jobs and they’ve been okay, but not great. But then again I only get sick like once a year (bad cold/allergies) and they’re fine for that. But as I’m getting older I’ll need more services soon (cough cough butt camera cough cough) so I’m debating the switch to a different company.

But, what I’m leaning towards is just continuing with Kaiser and just listing a different main physician, just to keep it easy.

If you’re interested, here are the results. Of course now that I’ve had time to look at it I wish I had taken more time between meetings to actually write a decent survey.

Skeptoid – Pit Bull Attack!

This is a case where the value of good science is to drive policy. Most researchers agree that breed-specific legislation — a nice term for pit bull bans — are inappropriate. No good data exists to demonstrate that such bans have had any impact. Improved enforcement of existing laws, and improved education for dog owners, are far more likely to reduce the number of dog bites, fatal or not.

I’m behind on my episodes of Skeptoid – I need to listen to the old one from August(?!) about wifi and smart-meters. August?! How did I get that far behind?

Uber car service: Exposing the idiocy of American city taxi regulations. – Slate Magazine

To be clear, I’m not accusing Uber of doing anything illegal. What they are doing, however, is running a business that would have bleak prospects of success if our nation’s taxi laws were not so dumb
