My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this. It was a bit of a random pick-up from someone else’s shelf. I didn’t know anything about the author previously.
Despite that I got really into the book. Parts of it even made me homesick as it was set in Texas (which means some of you may not like that). But overall I thought it was a well-crafted mystery with interesting characters and a good plot.

In la Calitexican’s words, the first Californian (native!) she met that had a really good things to say about the lone star – maybe because I have been there. and maybe because over the years many of my good friends are Texans. Any one that shit talks about any state, or country, without having been there, is a quick preview of their ignorance which I dont find blissful – whatsoever.
The latest, I decided not to ever go back to a previous regularly visited coffee spot of mine, because barista said to an equally irritating-snob customer ‘yea, well who the fuck would wanna go to Texas’. My business with them (and that’s A LOT of cappuccinos) is done. finito. no mas.
And you do book reviews. I like this.
Wow- I’m impressed -and fascinated- with that barista story. I’m so used to people making fun or teasing, or worse, that it brushes off me (usually). Maybe it’s because I know some of the things may cause our image problems and I get annoyed with them too. But as far as the people go- we’re a pretty good lot for the most part.
