Luddition 2
I have severe laptop envy here at work. Some of the “cool” people have these fancy powerbooks. They probably cost more than my Civic. And my Civic isn’t riced out either. Even “the new guy” in my group doesn’t realize how good he has it – his laptop has to be years younger than my stinkpad. Even my home machine(s) are showing their age. Sure they still work, but I’m still playing Leisure Suit Larry- I’d love to try these new-fangled 1st person shooters. I think I’ll have to rob a bank or win lotto, then I’ll be ok. I could upgrade of course on my own, but this is a type of “Luddition through Economics” that is more self-induced. The same thing goes for me not having cable and a mythbox. Is self-induced, or self-enforced “Luddition through Economics” still the same underlying principle, or is it more through laziness?
